Negligence can put loved ones, tenants and cherished possessions at risk. Call us now for your free electrical safety checks, your life may depend on it.
An electrical safety law, part P of the Building regulations was introduced in January 2005, with the aim of protecting homeowners by reducing the risk of electric shock. The law requires that the majority of electrical works in the home, particularly in high risk areas i.e kitchens, bathrooms gardens and new circuits installed from the fuse board (classified as special locations) should be carried out by competent electrical persons/companies, registered with a government approved scheme such as the NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting). Electrics should be designed, installed and tested according to the 17th edition wiring regulations and building control.
Failure to comply with building regulations is a criminal offence and you can be fined up to £5000. You may not have a certificate to prove the work was carried out by a registered electrician, or to prove it has been deemed safe by your local building control. This may be a problem when you come to sell your house, not to mention there may be the possibility that it may invalidate your insurances.
